Anticipate a Rowdy Finish Stadium for Super G Today

Yesterday we had a great turnout here at the 2008 Audi Birds of Prey World Cup Finish Stadium for the Downhill. 8,000 + enthusiastic spectators came out to watch Askel Lund Svindal of Norway stand atop the downhill podium.

The Super G is on tap today for 11am. In preparation for today's event, we would like to relay a couple standard operating procedures for finish stadium etiquette. We understand that ski racing does not have the following here in the U.S. that is has in Europe... thus, we feel it is our duty to help the cause.

THINGS TO CONSIDER:
Fan clubs are acceptable and encouraged. The larger the better. If you go the fan club route consider creating signage and event hats or shirts to better pledge your allegiance to your favorite racer, country or racing suit color. See U.S. Ski Team member Marco Sullivan's fan club as an example:

2.) MORE COW BELL! Cow bells are not just for Saturday Night Live skits and ranch use. They also serve as the best noise maker ever. In the finish stadium bring your cow bell and ring it loudly. Don't be shy, everyone else will be doing it. If you can't find a cow bell on short notice get creative. Boom sticks, clapping hands, spoons... whatever you've got... bring it.

Check out some footage from yesterday's downhill finish stadium to serve as inspiration.

See you at 11am for today's Super G.

Thanks for posting on this blog. My son and I attended the last 2 years but couldn't this year due to an unplanned surgery and tough economy. Anyway, this will suffice as the next best thing this weekend. Being from CA and part time Truckee residents, GO MARCO!!! SULLY , That is ....
