Our third day today at Outdoor Retailer was an incredibly productive one. As is the case with any event the size and scope of the
Teva Mountain Games there are a lot of moving parts. Being our first year producing this particular event we are finding ourselves constantly working hard to connect the dots and align all the pieces as we progress. Our meetings today with partners like
Outside,
USA Climbing and
Wink Inc. were very helpful. We look
forward to working with you all on the 2009 games and it was fantastic finally meeting each one of you.
We have been working a lot with our title sponsor,
Teva, in the past few weeks and can not say enough about their
involvement with this event. They have been a huge reason why the
Teva Mountain Games has become what it is today... once you meet them and have a chance to interact with their staff it becomes even more apparent. Their creativity and outside the box thinking is
truly inspirational.
After our busy day at O.R. we headed over to a local planetarium for a 3D
IMAX showing of their movie
Grand Canyon Adventure: A River at Risk. Being river enthusiasts ourselves (two members of our staff ran the Grand this summer), we all enjoyed the film and it's message. Water conservation is a huge issue for us here and since many of us play in and around the Colorado River headwaters the message hit home.
We must comment at this point about the strange weather here in Salt Lake today. Check out some of the photos below... there has been a temperature inversion that engulfs everything in a fog. Hopefully the rain and fog we see here in Salt Lake equates to powder in the Utah high-country for our powder skiing brethren.
