American Airlines Lands Korbel Ford Cup Title To Wrap Up 2010 Korbel American Ski Classic

American Airlines Domestic arrived at all of the gates on time Saturday afternoon as Sweden's Ylva Nowen led her team to victory in the Korbel Ford Cup celebrity team race to officially bring down the curtain on the racing portion of the 2010 Korbel American Ski Classic at Vail Mountain's Golden Peak.

Comprised of Nowen, Misha Moritz, Kaia Moritz, Randi Jaerbyn and Jon-Erik Borgen, Team American Airlines Domestic flew past silver medal winners Team Hertz on the final race of the two-day competition as Nowen outdistanced American Casey Puckett on the dual courses by eight-one-hundredths of a second to notch the win. The title came down to the Legends to decide as American Airlines and Hertz had split the wins in the previous four head-to-head races. Nowen, the 1998 World Cup Slalom champion, went into the final run with a three-tenths of a second advantage over five-time Olympian Puckett and just managed to claim the gold for her team.

Bronze medal honors went to Team Vail Resorts Epic Pass, which included Vail Resorts CEO Rob Katz and captained by 1984 Olympic Slalom silver medalist Steve Mahre. Team Vail Resorts out distanced the Quark Expeditions North Pole Team, captained by Canadian Karen Stemmle, by the count of four individual victories to one to earn the bronze.

The 2010 Korbel American Ski Classic marked the 28th anniversary of North America's longest-running Pro/Am celebrity ski event.
