In its current season at City Center, the Paul Taylor Dance Company is presenting three works by Mr. Taylor each evening: 18 in all, spread over 16 performances. He could arrange them as six unvarying triple bills, each of which would have two or three performances. That would be more convenient for this city’s busy dancegoers.

Revealing New Facets of a Choreographer’s Gemstones

There are many reasons to concentrate on the work of a brilliant choreographer while he or she is still alive. The most obvious is that relatively few dances outlive their maker; the second most obvious is that the dances will acquire different accents when the maker is gone, most of which will probably diminish them. But perhaps the most exciting is to follow, month by month and even day by day, the growing fascination choreographers have with their dancers.
