
The 2010 Vail International Dance Festival gets underway TONIGHT with the King of Tap Savion Glover and 9-time Grammy winning jazz artist Eddie Palmieri. Showtime is 6:30pm at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail.
Savion Glover is a living legend in the world of tap. The New York Times raves, "His stamina [is] unflagging, his energy unquenchable and his virtuosity unbeatable…sequences resembled bursts of firecrackers." The Star-Ledger calls him "our very own legend, a genius of our time." Gregory Hines named Glover “the greatest tap dancer that ever lived,” and he is widely credited with revolutionizing tap dance.
Joining Glover on stage is jazz pianist Eddie Palmieri. Known for his charismatic stage presence, Palmieri has a musical career that spans over 50 years as a bandleader of Salsa and Latin Jazz orchestras.
Tickets $17 for the lawn and $55/$75 for the pavilion. For this performance, there will also be specially-priced $10 child's lawn tickets as well as the Family Dance & Dogs Deal which includes 4 hot dogs, chips and sodas for only $25.
